Baja Mexico cruise - any advice for Puerto Vallarta?

heading out on the baja mexico cruise late november. weve got a stop in puerto vallarta and im trying to figure out what to do. not really looking for the typical crowded bus tour. more interested in finding a cool local beach club or a spot with good food and drinks where we can just relax and have some fun. maybe someplace with a bit of a vibe, you know? also wondering if its better to just grab a taxi or if theres a simpler way to get around. any recommendations from people whove been there would be awesome.
