we're heading to nassau on the carnival pride in september. looking for a good beach day but dont want the crazy party scene of atlantis. just a nice spot with some chairs, maybe a bar for drinks, and decent water. something walkable from the port or a cheap cab ride would be perfect. we arent looking for an expensive resort pass. any local spots you'd recommend for just relaxing?

We went to Junkanoo Beach last time we were in Nassau. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the port, straight down Bay Street and then a quick turn. It's a public beach, so no fee to get on the sand. You can rent chairs and umbrellas for maybe $20-30 for the day, and there are a few small bars and shacks right there for drinks and basic food like conch fritters. The water was calm and clear when we were there, and it wasn't overly crowded on a weekday. It's definitely more of a local/hangout vibe than a resort feel, which we prefer. The one caveat is that the facilities are pretty basic—don't expect luxury bathrooms. Also, if there are multiple ships in port, it can get busier by midday, so getting there earlier helped us snag a good spot. Has anyone tried the beach at Goodman's Bay? I've heard it's a bit farther but maybe even quieter. We're considering that for our next stop.
