Silver Shadow stop in St. Croix – any cool beach bars?

Hey all, we're on the Silver Shadow next month and one of our stops is Frederiksted, St. Croix. We've been looking at the ship's excursions and they seem pretty tame. We're more interested in finding a fun, lively beach spot where we can hang out, maybe with some good music and decent drinks, without having to go too far from the port. Ideally we'd love a place with a younger vibe where we can just post up for the day. Would love a recommendation for a specific bar or beach club thats easy to get to by cab from the port. Not looking for anything ultra fancy, just a good time. Also, any tips on how much cash to bring for cabs or if they take cards would be super helpful. We're trying to avoid the big organized tours this time and just do our own thing. If you've been and have a favorite spot, let me know.

Frederiksted's got a great beach right by the pier, but if you want more vibe, head to Rainbow Beach. It's about a 10-15 minute cab ride. The Sandbar on the Beach is exactly what you're describing: good drinks, music, and a lively, younger crowd. It's not a quiet resort, which is perfect. Taxis are flat-rate from the port, around $7-8 per person each way for that trip. Bring cash for the cabs and small purchases; some of the beach bars take cards, but connection can be spotty. It's easy to get a cab back, they line up at Rainbow Beach. We just grabbed chairs and never moved all day.
Agree with Sandbar recommendation—the music is reliably good and the crowd is usually a mix of locals and passengers from ships. One thing I'd add: try to get there a bit earlier if you want a decent spot with an umbrella, because it gets packed by early afternoon. Cash is definitely king for everything onshore there, including cabs and the bar. A couple hundred in small bills is more than enough.
The Sandbar is exactly the spot you want. One pro-tip from our last visit: their rum punch is deceptively strong, so pace yourself if you're planning a full day in the sun. Also, if you're into it, the vibe definitely gets more playful and flirty as the afternoon goes on. We ended up meeting another couple there and had an incredible time. Just be prepared for it to be loud and social—not a quiet retreat.
